PKA is Now a Partner of
BRACE.

This
organization, Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies, (BRACE),
came about after the disastrous hurricane season of 2004-2005. It was
formed as a nonprofit corporation and partnership organization, to
act as a network for the hundreds of individuals, businesses, nonprofits,
and government agencies who found themselves simply trying to help meet
the needs of the community. Their core purpose is to get every
individual, business, non-profit, civic and church or other faith based
organization involved in ensuring our community is fully prepared and
protected against any type of emergency. Of course, the key factor in
being prepared and protected is that action must be taken BEFORE the
emergency happens.

Currently, there are over 140 partners, representing 12 different sectors
of the community, including Business & Industry, Community, Construction,
Education, Faith-based, Government, Health Care, Insurance, Media. The
Perdido Key Association is proud to be a partner of BRACE, and to support
emergency management needs in Escambia County. Ideally, BRACE partners
will serve as a force multiplier of human and material resources in four
phases of emergency management (preparedness, response, recovery and
mitigation).

Two members of the PKA Board of Directors, Bonnie Yaste and Norma
DeBrow, are already serving as volunteers with BRACE. Please visit the
website, to
learn more. If you are interested in becoming involved as a volunteer or a
partner, please call 444-7135. They would welcome your participation. |
