SW Escambia Roads
Presentation

A public meeting was held on October 2 regarding potential transportation
improvement alternatives to the Perdido Key Drive (SR 292), as well as
Sorrento Road. These projects are in early design phases in order for cost
feasibility to be determined.

PBS&J and Hatch Mott McDonald, the engineering\consulting firms hired to
perform the Project Development & Environment (PD&E) studies, gave formal
presentations on both projects. There were illustrations of the typical
sections of proposed designs presented and staff on hand to answer
questions as people walked around looking at the posters.

The improvements are being studied in two (2) separate PD&E studies. The
Perdido Key Drive project is identifying potential alternatives to
accommodate the 4-laning of approximately 7 miles of Perdido Key Drive,
from the Alabama state line to the south end of the Theo Baars Bridge. The
Sorrento Rd. project is studying potential alternatives to continue the
4-laning for approximately the 6 mile stretch along Sorrento Rd., from the
south end of the Theo Baars Bridge to Blue Angel Parkway.

These plans can be reviewed and comments made at
