Planting of Sea Oats on
Perdido Key started April 11

In order to stabilize
the recent protective berm constructed on the island, planting on Perdido
Key was initiated April 11. Planting will go from the East to the West to
the Alabama State line (excluding the State Park) and will be completed in
approximately 90 days.

The contractor is utilizing a portion of the Sandy Key public access
parking (approximately 75') as a staging area. It is anticipated this will
last a couple weeks until it is advantageous to utilize one of the other
public accesses.

The planting consists primarily of sea oats and panicum grasses and will
cover the landward slope, the berm crest and approximately 30' down the
seaward slope to stabilize the berm.
